From the Other Side of the Room* -- Interfaith Book Discussion 6-12-14

Some of you are involved professionally and/or personally in faith-based nonprofits, congregations or communities, so I want to let you know about the Interfaith Book Group's 2nd meeting here at Central Library this year.    Leslie Heberlie of www.interfaithstl.org  and Claire Droeste of www.dapstl.org will lead another discussion here on Thurs. June 12 of A Religion of One's Own by Thomas  Moore. We will meet in the 1st floor Book club room (near the Locust St. entrance to the Library) from 4:30 – 6 pm. Please contact me if you have questions or want information about free parking.

You do not have to have completed the book to contribute to the session.  As Leslie explains, “Thomas Moore’s books explore religion as more than a cultural force or a set of beliefs—instead he frames religion as a truly practiced lifestyle, devotion to which has changed his own life (and others’ lives). In his most recent book, A Religion of One’s Own, he departs from the bounds of established religions and develops a framework for practicing a religion that resonates for each individual’s purpose, meaning and inner life. We’ll explore the everyday experiences that he lays out as essential for an amplified spiritual life, as well as the implications for our existing faith traditions.”

Hope to see you, as well as anyone you know who is interested in discussing interfaith understanding next Thursday.
