You're invited to "Surviving the System, "a candid talk about ReEntry for the Ex-Offender," community forum in Central Library's auditorium  Sept. 30, 7-8:30 pm.  The free event, as well as a 6-7 pm. resource fair, is sponsored by the Gamma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Forum panelists will include moderator Bonita Cornute of Fox News, MO Bar Assn. President Reuben Shelton, Circuit Judge Jimmie Edwards, State Rep. Kimberly Gardner, Chris Howard of Prison Performing Arts, and Crime Victims Advocate Julie Lawson. Alpha Kappa Alpha (ΑΚΑ) is the first Greek-lettered sorority established and incorporated by African-American college women.

Chronicle Quotes Local Grantmakers on Ferguson Issues

Did you see the 9-11-14 issue of the Chronicle of Philanthropy ? (a print copy is available here) Suzanne Perry questioned some local grantmakers  (as well as reps from W.K.Kellogg & Ford foundations) about plans to assist long-simmering  racial justice issues.  The article reports responses from Amelia Bond -- Greater St. Louis Community Foundation,  the Rev. Starsky Wilson--Deaconess Foundation, and Julie Russell -- United Way of Greater St. Louis.
